Payment configuration

A service provider, Owl Telecom, wants to enable auto payments for its customers using Visa and MasterCard with a minimum payment amount of $5. Owl Telecom already has a merchant account and a contract with the payment processor AuthorizeNet. The Owl Telecom’s account with AuthorizeNet is set up to verify card security codes (CVV) during transactions.

The Owl Telecom’s credentials for using AuthorizeNet API are the following: username (login ID) – Auth_Login; password – auth_pass.

After the payment system is configured, Owl Telecom plans to make a test payment of $25 on behalf of its customer (refer to the E-commerce payments handbook for step-by-step instructions).

Owl Telecom also plans to enable auto payments. To do this, they need to set up token-based payments for AuthorizeNet.

1. Add a payment system
2. Assign a payment system for a specific currency 
3. Configure token-based payments

1. On the navigation menu, select Financial > E-payments >  Payment systems.
2. On the Payment system list panel, click Add and fill in the following information:
   • Name – type in the payment system name, e.g., AuthorizeNet.
   • Payment processor – select AuthorizeNet.
   • Login – type in the login for your payment system account, e.g.,  Auth_Login.
   • Password – enter the password for your payment system account, e.g.,  auth_pass.
   • Test mode – the test mode is used when you configure a new payment system and want to test it without processing the real card data. Enable this option if you're going to make a test payment on behalf of your test customer.
   • Payment methods – select Visa and Mastercard.
   • Stored card information – choose the Full card info except the CVV option.
   • CVV required – select this checkbox (as in our example, Owl Telecom’s  AuthorizeNet account is set up to verify CVV codes during transactions).

     

3. Click Save.

1. Navigate to Financial >  Currency management.
2. On the Currencies panel, select USD.
3. Click Add next to Payment/remittance systems and specify the following information:

   

   • Type – select Payment system.
   • System name – select AuthorizeNet.
   • Minimum payment – type the minimum amount for the payment system to process, e.g., $5.

     

4. Click Save.

You can now make e-commerce payments. Refer to the E-commerce payments handbook for step-by-step instructions.

This step is required if the token-based payments were not enabled upon adding the payment system. Token-based payments allow you to use auto payments and automatically charge the customer’s credit card for invoices.

To configure the token-based payments:

1. Navigate to Financial > E-payments > Payment systems.
2. On the Payment system list panel, select AuthorizeNet.
3. On the Payment system’s info panel, disable the Test mode toggle.
4. Go to the Data protection panel and select Token only for the Stored card information option.
5. Click Save.

   

After completing these steps, refer to the Auto payments handbook to enable your customers to automatically pay their invoices using the selected payment system.
