PortaSwitch installation ISO allows for the installation of Oracle Enterprise Linux (64-bit version), PortaSwitch, and supplementary packages necessary for convenient system administration and maintenance. The installation is performed using the network connection. The step-by-step installation process is described here.
Note that only static IP addresses can be used for PortaSwitch servers. Dynamic assignment of IP addresses to servers via DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) is not supported.
Once PortaSwitch is installed on the servers, you have a blank system that can be configured in various ways depending on your requirements. The Configuration server tool allows you to assign a role for each server, e.g., “billing server,” “web server”. This will automatically enable the required software components of PortaSwitch on these servers. Refer to the Initial configuration of PortaSwitch chapter for the detailed instructions.
