You can configure various global settings for voice applications, such as IVRs, voicemail boxes, and auto-attendants, using the Global voice application settings panel.

Global voice application settings panel

It includes options that are:

  • Set globally only (e.g., permanently deleting messages from all personal voicemail boxes, bypassing the Trash folder)
    EXAMPLE
Say a service provider has many customers who manage voicemails solely via IVR. These customers complain that even after deleting messages, their voicemail boxes remain full, preventing new messages from being left. The admin discovers that deleted messages are moved to a Trash folder, taking up space. To resolve this, they navigate to Voice calls processing > Global voice application settings > Personal voice mailboxes and enable the new No Trash Folder in IVR option. This is automatically applied to all voicemail application instances in the system, ensuring that messages deleted via IVR are permanently removed for every customer.

the No Trash Folder in IVR option

  • Set globally but overridden for specific application instances (e.g., allowing users to check account balances).
    EXAMPLE

If the Allow to check account balance option is disabled globally but enabled for a specific voice mailbox application, the behavior depends on how the user accesses their mailbox. If they dial the designated access number for that application (e.g., *98), they can check their account balance via the IVR, as the application's specific configuration applies. However, if they dial their own extension to reach their mailbox, the global configuration takes effect, not allowing balance checks.
