Huawei MOne

PortaBilling is now integrated with Huawei MOne acting as a Short Message Service Center (SMSC) in mobile networks. This integration enables mobile operators to deliver SMS messages to their subscribers and charge for them in real time.

PortaBilling communicates with Huawei MOne via the Diameter (Ro) interface, enabling real-time authorization and charging (AAA) for outgoing SMS messages. For example, when a subscriber attempts to send an SMS, PortaBilling authenticates the subscriber, authorizes sending the SMS, charges the user’s account, and Huawei MOne SMSC routes the SMS for delivery to the recipient.

To configure SMS charging with Huawei MOne SMSC, follow these steps:

1. Log in to the Configuration server web interface and make the following changes to establish communication between Huawei MOne and PortaBilling:
   • Set the GW_Adaptors.Huawei_UGW_Enabled option to “Yes”

     

   • Set the Diameter.StrictMBit option to “No”

     

2. Add the Huawei MOne SMSC as a node to enable it to exchange charging requests with PortaBilling.
   1. Log in to the PortaBilling web interface, navigate to Infrastructure > Nodes, and create a node for SMS service by filling in the details:
      • Name – add a short descriptive name, such as “SMS Node”
      • Node ID – enter the “host” value identifying Huawei MOne SMSC (on the MNO’s side, it’s specified as the Origin-Host).
      • IP – specify the IP address of the Huawei MOne SMSC. Since the node is identified only by the Node ID for communication via Diameter, the IP address is used here for informational purposes.
      • Manufacturer – select “Huawei”
      • Type – select “UGW9811”

      

   2. Enable communication with PortaBilling via the Diameter protocol on the Node > Communication with billing tab:
      • Turn on the Enable communication with billing toggle
      • Client protocol – select Diameter
      • Realm – specify the “origin realm” value identifying the MNO’s equipment (on the MNO’s side, it’s the Origin-Realm value)
