Phone book allows you to view and maintain the end user’s set of frequently dialed numbers. On this tab, you can add favorite numbers, "lock" a contact in the phone book and/or assign a speed dial number to it on behalf of the account owner.

Allowed patterns

Link copied to clipboard

This is a comma-separated list of patterns for numbers that an end user can mark as favorites. For example, to allow an account user to mark London, UK destinations as favorites, input "442" here.

This field can contain the following special symbols:

  • % – wildcard for any number of symbols; and
  • _ – equivalent wildcards for one symbol.

If this field is empty, any number can be marked as a favorite.

Turn on the toggle to allow end users to make changes to their lists of favorite numbers. A predefined number of days must pass before a user can edit/delete a favorite number. PortaBilling calculates these days from the moment the user marks the number as a favorite.

This column features two buttons:

  • Click Edit Edit to edit a number.
  • Click Delete Delete to remove a number.

Phone book number

Link copied to clipboard

The phone number here (e.g., 12065551998). Since customers are used to seeing E.164 numbers with the '+' prefix, PortaBilling automatically adds the '+' to the phone number upon saving. Note that PortaBilling modifies all the numbers you enter according to the applied dialing rules applied, so please consider the customer’s dialing format when entering phone numbers to their phone book. If there is no translation rule applied, PortaBilling considers the number as if entered in the E.164 format and adds the '+' sign to any number entered. Customers then dial phone numbers from their phones without the '+.'

Name

The contact name.

Contact type

Link copied to clipboard

The contact type, e.g., Mobile.

Speed dial

Link copied to clipboard

The speed dial number that the end user can dial on their phone to place a call to an external phone number. Note that the length of this number is limited by the Maximum speed dial length option on the Service configuration panel.

Lock

Link copied to clipboard

This column shows if users can edit their contact lists and to what extent:

  • None – contacts are not locked in the phone book, allowing the end user to add, edit or remove contacts. Note that the end user can also select contacts to which special "favorite" rates apply.
  • Full – fully lock the contact in the phone book (makes it impossible for the end user to edit or remove the locked contact).
  • Number – partially lock the contact in the phone book (allowing the end user to change only the name).

Favorite rating

Link copied to clipboard

This column shows if the phone number is marked as a favorite. You must define the rate for the FAV destination in the end user’s tariff and then the end user’s call to this specific number is rated according to this rate.
