An account alias is an additional identifier linked to a main account. When a call is received for an alias ID, PortaBilling maps it to the main account and uses its balance, product, and other parameters for further processing.

In SIP trunking scenarios, a customer may have several DID numbers that all must route to the same PBX. One main account holds the service configuration and is used for outgoing calls, while DID numbers are configured as aliases for incoming calls. Incoming calls to an alias are delivered to a device registered to the main account or to its SIP Contact.

By default, an alias cannot be used independently for registration or authentication. To allow this, enable the Allow authentication option in the alias configuration. When enabled, the alias can be used as a separate identity for outgoing calls. If no device is registered using such an alias, incoming calls to that DID can only be forwarded or sent to voicemail. To disable independent authentication and registration, turn off the Allow authentication option. In this case, incoming calls to the alias are still routed to the main account, but outgoing calls using the alias cannot be made.

Account aliases

When an administrator adds an alias to an account, a role and a realm must be selected for that account. The available role and realm values depend on the main and add-on products assigned to the main account.

Select alias realm.

The Voucher role is not supported for account aliases.
