Usage monitoring

On this panel, you can set a usage threshold per roaming zone for an hourly, daily, or weekly period (based on the customer’s time zone). A roaming zone is a specific code group from the selected code group set. For configuration details, see Trigger alerts on high-cost data usage.

Click Edit to view and edit the usage threshold details.

Click Delete to delete a usage threshold.

A roaming zone that is monitored for data usage.

The maximum allowed data volume (e.g., in MB) for the selected code group within the chosen period.

The trigger condition for sending alerts (Actual usage reaches or Usage estimate reaches).

• Change table settings – click Settings in the title bar to customize columns and change row style.
• Re-order the columns – drag-and-drop the column headers right or left to place the columns in the order you want.
• Re-order the rows – click Arrow (or ) next to the column header to re-sort the rows. For example, the Usage monitoring list panel shows usage thresholds in the order you add them. You can re-sort them in alphabetical or reverse order.
• Change the default number of results globally – use the Rows per page dropdown list in the lower right corner to adjust the maximum number of rows that appear on the panel. By default, the panel displays 25 rows. Once the number is changed, it's automatically saved, so the same number of rows is shown for PortaBilling entities, e.g., customer, account, reseller, etc.

In the Edit code group dialog, select a code group from the dropdown, and define the following parameters:

• Accumulation period – choose the time interval for which PortaBilling accumulates data usage before evaluating it against the threshold (Hourly, Daily, or Weekly).
• Notify if – choose the trigger condition for sending alerts:
  • Actual usage reaches – PortaBilling detects when the subscriber’s data consumption reaches the defined limit. For example, if you set 100 MB per hour, PortaBilling sends a notification once the actual usage reaches 100 MB or more.
  • Usage estimate reaches – PortaBilling estimates the subscriber’s projected usage rate (based on current data consumption speed) and detects if they are likely to exceed the threshold before the period ends. For example, if the usage reaches 60 MB within the first 30 minutes (meaning that the consumption speed is 120 MB/hour), PortaBilling can warn the subscriber before the 100 MB/hour limit is actually reached. If the subscriber keeps using data and the actual usage reaches the 100 MB threshold, an additional notification is sent.
• Threshold – specify the maximum allowed data volume (e.g., in MB) for the selected code group within the chosen period.
