A product is a combination of services you provide to customers for a price.
To add a new product, click + Product and fill in the details. To save the product configuration, click Save. To save and continue editing the product details, click Save & Edit. To create more products, click Save & Add a copy.
General
In the General tab, you can specify the product details.
Product type
Choose a type for your product:
- Main product – this represents the basic services available to your customers.
- Add-on product – this enables access to a certain service feature (e.g., call waiting) and has a recurring cost (subscription) associated with it.
You can assign one main product and virtually unlimited number of add-on products to an account.
Add-on products have precedence over the main product. No matter what configuration is defined for the main product, it will be overridden by settings defined within add-on products.
Name
The internal product name shown on the administrator interface.
Name visible to end users
The product name shown to end users on their self-care interfaces.
Currency
Choose a currency the product will be priced in.
Priority
Assign a priority level to the add-on product.
Each add-on product has a priority level associated with it (from low to high). If more than one add-on products are assigned to an account, the add-on products with higher priorities override settings defined for the add-on products with lower priorities.
Account role
Choose an account role for the product. This defines what the accounts with this product assigned are designated for (e.g., whether the accounts represent phone lines, prepaid cards or top-up vouchers).
An administrator defines account roles for both accounts and products. This introduces the following constraint – a product can only be assigned to an account having the same role.
Managed by
Choose whether the product will be managed by an administrator or a particular reseller.
Realm
Choose an account realm for the product. This allows you to impose a scope of uniqueness for account IDs.
Services
In the Services tab, you can select which services are included with the product.
Usage charging
On this tab, you can define how to charge your customers for service usage.
To do this, configure the product’s usage charges. This is the main component of a product definition. It specifies which services customers can access, how they are charged for each service, and which access points (nodes) are permitted.
To add a charging rule, click + Entry and fill in the details.
Each entry of the charging rules consists of:
- Service – the type of service provided.
- Access code – this parameter allows you to use different tariffs for the same service. For example, you can use different tariffs for outgoing, incoming, and forwarded calls using the OUTGOING, INCOMING, and FOLLOWME access codes, respectively.
- Tariff – the tariff used to charge end users for the service provided.
- Reseller tariff – the tariff used to charge a reseller for the service they provide to their users.
Additional
On this tab, you can specify additional product settings, such as the product’s subscription, bundle, or description.
Subscription
Choose a subscription plan for the product. With subscription plans, you can charge customers recurring (e.g., monthly) fees for using the service. The chosen subscription will be applied to each account with this product assigned.
To modify the subscription plan details, click Link
. This directs you to the Edit subscription plan panel.
Default bundle
Choose a bundle for the product. Bundles allow you to adjust prices depending on the volume of services consumed by customers, allocate a certain volume of free services, and transfer a balance to a bundle item designed for a specific type of service. The chosen bundle will be applied to every account with this product assigned.
To see/modify bundle details, click Link
. This redirects you to the Edit bundle panel.
Share with resellers
Select the checkbox to allow your resellers to use this product for their service provisioning. Resellers see this product as read-only. You can disable this option only if none of your resellers use the product.
Product group
Assign products to product groups to organize them. This allows customers to find and select the products they need.
Product groups serve the following purposes:
- Custom grouping for end users on the built-in account self-care interface included with PortaBilling/PortaSwitch. This allows users to easily find add-ons available for self-sign-up within their respective groups.
- Relevant product display on the CloudPBX Self-Care Portal. When customers create accounts of specific types, product groups ensure that only relevant products are shown. For example, when adding a new extension, customers see only products intended for extensions and cannot accidentally select a product for an auto-attendant or a fax mailbox.
Service availability threshold
This parameter is optional. This is used for statistical purposes only. Accounts that have a balance lower than the service availability threshold are considered depleted. An account can still initiate a session (e.g., make a call) if there is enough money to cover at least the first session interval.
Description
Type the internal product description.
Description visible to end users
Type the product description shown to end users on their self-care interfaces.
Custom data
On this tab, you can configure custom data fields that are available for included services.
